Pair of French Country Rush Seat Chairs
A pair of striped rush bottom fruitwood chairs from the French country, late 19th century. Flat crest with two ball finials over a back with wonderfully unique design and use of negative space. The applied shell carving hangs over a small urn-form final which is flanked by two delicate spindles. The striped rush seats over straight front legs and flared rear and turned stretchers.
16 ¼ inches wide by 15 inches deep by 35 inches tall; seat height 17 ½ inches
Good overall with one seat missing the front seat trim piece.
