Offered is a hand-colored engraving from the Illustrated London News entitled the “Ascent of Mr. Green’s Balloon, on Wednesday Night”. The image shows a crowd of spectators and eager passengers preparing for a hot air balloon ride.

The print is in good antique condition with some creasing and warbling of the paper. The frame is acceptable with some knicks primarily in the corners. The piece comes with a certificate of authenticity, sealed on the verso.

 

Charles Green (1785-1870) was a famous English Aeronaut who made a historic voyage from London to Nasau in his “Royal Vauxhall” balloon setting a record for the world’s longest flight.
