The print is fair with bubbling from mounting and several areas of small tears. The framing is distressed from age.
Frederick Stuart Church (1842-1924) an American artist born in Grand Rapids Michigan. He served in the union army during the civil war and afterwards studied art at Chicago’s Academy of Design. He continued his studies in New York City, where he lived the rest of his life. He developed a reputation as a talented illustrator and his work was published in Harper’s publications, Ladies Home Journal, Century Magazine and Frank Leslie’s Weekly.
