A french illustrator who specialized in engravings and landscape painting. He collaborated with Jules Verne, illustrating six of his novels.
This engraving is from the first collaboration between Verne and Riou, the novel Five Weeks in a Balloon, published in 1863.

The engraving is in good antique condition with paper toning. The framing is good with some minor scuffs and scratched. There is also touched-up damage at corners of the frame.
