Ovoid salt-glazed stoneware jar with a footed base, tooled collar, and open loop handles, the handle terminals brushed in cobalt, impressed BOSTON below the collar. One side carries an impressed, cobalt-highlighted oval cartouche with the script initials J.F. inside a rope border, the seal of potter Jonathan Fenton; the other side is decorated with a brushed cobalt flower on a leafy stem. Areas of kiln burn to the collar and lower body.

ConditionChips to the rim. A tight hairline descends from the rim through the collar on the BOSTON side, and a network of fine surface hairlines and crazing crosses the body on both sides; none pass through the wall and the piece is solid. Unglazed base.
