Bleached Welsh oak cwpwrdd bara a caws (bread and cheese cupboard), circa 1820, of characteristic form with twin doors enclosing dowel-filled panels above a two-drawer over two-door base, raised on bracket feet; projecting molded cornice, inlaid escutcheons to all doors and drawers, custom-painted blue interior.
Essential to rural Welsh farmhouses for protecting bread and cheese from vermin and mice.
41 ½ by 19 ¼ inches deep by 79 inches tall.
Even bleached patina with repairs, cracked panels and stable joints appropriate to age.
